Our Student Programs

Literacy Volunteers of Kanawha provides free, confidential, one-on-one tutoring for anyone aged 18 and up. Prospective students will do a test to see what they need help with, and then a tutor will be assigned to them. They and their tutor set their own meeting time(s) and place(s).

At this time, all tutoring is being done virtually. Therefore, students must have access to a computer or similar technology and reliable wifi to "meet" with their tutor.

We help with reading, writing, and English as a second language (ESL). Our students have learned how to write their names, received their US citizenship and driver's licenses, and even passed the TASC test (the West Virginia equivalent of the GED).

Basic Literacy

We have helped many adults improve their reading and writing skills. We also serve children. Call our number (located at the bottom of the page) to schedule an assessment.

Learn English

Do you want to learn English, or do you know someone who wants to learn? We can help! Please call

us to schedule an assessment with our skilled evaluators.

Partnerships

LVKC is proud to partner with organizations and groups in the area. If a client's ability to read or write is an important factor for your program, we can help - call us today!
